Buying a laptop
I have no idea where I should post this, so if I posted in the wrong place please move it to a more appropriate sub-forum, thanks.
I'm looking for a laptop to 4-6 table on at university. Does anyone know which US websites deliver to Sydney? If so, which computer should i buy? My main uses would be taking notes during lectures (yeah right) and playing poker so I wouldn't need a high end computer. I would like 1600x1200 or better resolution though. Thoughts/links? |

Re: Buying a laptop
Not sure if you can get Dell's shipped there, but I just bought a 17'' Inspiron and I love it. It's got 1900x1200 resolution, but it's kinda bulky. I paid $1400 or so for it.

Is there anything cheaper available that will do the job?

Re: Buying a laptop
A laptop with the resolution you are looking for is pretty expensive.

Is there anything cheaper available that will do the job? [/ QUOTE ] Not unless you get a 2nd hand laptop with a WUXGA screen (and not many folks apart from poker players bother speccing the screen rez that high). Dell used to do the Inspiron 6300 (now 6400) 15" laptop with a WUXGA screen but I think the only 15" WUXGA screen they sell now is in one of their upmartket corporate 15" laptops that costs more than the 9400 with 17" WUXGA anyway..maybe you'd get it if you were a world traveller or something.. Basically if you want a 1900x1200 screen in a laptop it means you can't go bargain basement. If you are only gonna play on sites that use resizeable tables of course then bargain laptop is the way to go to save $$.... |
