Hey guys I've been doing pretty well recently but have been having problems with my heads up play. My bubble play is fine as often times im chipleader or even stacked once heads up. When the blinds are 300/600 (i play on stars) or higher I know how to play but I'm uncertain about how to play when blinds are still only 200/400 when you both have stacks at about 6k.
Is the right play to be shove/folding or should you be raising 2.5x because you have over 10bb? Just a general question may be difficult to answer but I'd appreciate it, thanks. |

Thank you. I actually own hoh1 and have read it many times. I was hoping to hear from somebody who plays sngs online as there is a significant difference, in my mind, between online and liveplay. Anyone else have any advice?

Shoving is fine at 200/400 heads up, at most the smallest stack has 16BB or so.

I don’t really know what optimal play is per say, I struggle with the same issue. Some folks use a basic ICM concept others work off of a Nash equilibrium cheat sheet. I’m lean towards mixing my big hands up between pushing and rasing 2.5x the BB, this puts you in a nice spot to have him push over top of a monster.

In the example you gave, both players would have about 15 bb's. I would generally not be shoving a ton of hands at 15 bb's. I think here you can safely raise 2.5 bb's.

very opponent dependent, some guys will repop this alot to steal, against these guys u push alot, you can afford to raise 3-4x the blinds as u will have chips left so either is fine

Is he a folder? Will he try and limp a lot of hands? Will he let me limp hands? What's he do when I raise 2.5x BB? Will he fold to my SB lead out flop bets in an unraised pot?
There are tons of ways to exploit (low limit) players besides push/fold when HU. Too many people are way too tight and you can steal all their chips by a mixture of folding (Image play) and raising preflop + betting flops in unraised pots. |
