WSOP ME registration - 1st day assignments

When will 1st day assignments be available for WSOP ME? Do we have a choice in the matter, like last year? I couldn't get a clear answer from Stars, and by omission of mention I assume the answer to the 2nd question is no, but would like to hear your opinions.

Hello Dave,
We do plan to allow players to choose their starting day 1 if at all
possible. We hope that this ability will be in place by the time you
receive an email from pokerstars@meridican.com in 4-6 weeks which will
have a link to and instructions for completing the online registration
process. Part of that online registration will include making your
choices regarding sponsorship and hotel.

The hotel is covered by PokerStars for 7 nights, starting on July 5. You
should plan to arrive in Vegas on the 5th since we can't guarantee your
starting day 1.

If you still have chips in the main event at the end of that 7 days,
PokerStars will be happy to extend your stay for the remainder of the Main
Event.
