SB has been raising all in most hands. I believe the math says I can call. Is my math right? First time, I've done this. I usually play by feel, but am trying to find holes in my game.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t400 (3 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) SB (t8785) Hero (t3350) Button (t1365) Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, SB raises to t3600, Hero calls t2925 (All-In). Prize structure 1st - $472.5 2nd - $283.5 3rd - $189 Equity before hand: 8785 - $400.70 3350 - $305.68 (me) 1365 - $238.62 Equity if I fold: 9260 - $408.07 2925 - $296.93 (me) 1340 - $240.00 Equity if I call, and win: 6725 - $367.14 (me) 5435 - $345.09 1340 - $232.77s AKs vs (any Ace except A6o-A2o, any pair or KQs, KJs, KTs, QJs) win 61.0% (.390 * $189) + (.610 * $367.14) = $297.67 $297.67 > 296.92 so I should call this but fold AK unsuited and AQ, etc??? This seems so wrong to me. |

Your ranges for him are way off. This seems like a pretty easy call to me. You can always check in SNGPT, which you should certainly have if you play 114s.

You think my ranges are too tight or too loose?
Why would SNGPT help me? Do you use this program while playing or to train? If I was to write a program that would randomly generate chip stacks, hands, positions and quiz me would that be the same thing? Thanks. |

you should buy SnGPT. it helps tons with these calculations, and wont even cost you a buyin ($75). its to train, its impractical to use while playing

Thanks poisoned, that's exactly the answer I wanted.
I use linux so can't run it, but I'll write my own program to play around with these concepts. I am obviously giving some hands the wrong value. |

3 handed this is an insta call even though shorty has like 3 BB. Seems like you wouldn't even consider folding as this is a 114. It is profitable for him to shove so many hands from the SB as you are going to be folding soooo many hands as the button only has 3 BB. If you're calling range is 44+,A7s+,A9o+,KJs+, then it is profitable for the SB to shove ATC. If your range is a bit looser than that, he should be shoving the top 33% of hands all the way down to 76s. Easy call, play for first.

Never fold AKs 3-handed except for bizarro death-zone, shorty-sitting-out type situations. The difference between 3rd and 2nd isn't that big to ever let yourself get pwned.

AKs vs (any Ace except A6o-A2o, any pair or KQs, KJs, KTs, QJs) win 61.0% [/ QUOTE ] I'm scared for you if you usually play by feel, and this is the range your 'feel' assigns to an opponent who is raising all in most hands. |
