Sky Caddie?
Anyone have one or try one?
Link if you have no idea what it is: http://www.skygolfgps.com/ Looks like it could be cool, could be dumb but I am hoping to try one out in the next week or so. Will report my findings. |

Re: Sky Caddie?
Looks cool, yeah, but as with most equipment, the money spent on it would be better spent on lessons, or a proper clubfitting, or range balls.

sucks [/ QUOTE ] Pretty much sums it up. The pro at my course has a hunting scope that sends a laser beam out, and refects of the metal flag stick and brings back a quite accurate reading. Best distance analizer I've seen so far. |

Re: Sky Caddie?
I think its great. Have had mine for 3 years now and love it.
Ron is correct in saying that money could be spent better to improve your game, but as an 8 handicap here I love it because I play a lot of different courses and don't always remember every aspect of each hole and this gives me tons of information for each shot (as long as the course has been professional recorded by skycaddie in the database). Skycaddie gives you a lot of information to different spots on each hole of the course and to each part of the greens not just a distance to the flag as in the range finder golfinguy is talking about. The only draw backs for me so far is that the battery doesn't last for 36 holes and I tend to be the "personal caddie" for all in my group when we play. |

Re: Sky Caddie?
Yes that is the sucks part, but fortunate for me all but one course has never been there and I emailed skycaddie and they went out and got it done.

Re: Sky Caddie?
I've had mine for a season, and I love it. I belong to a private club so play the same basic course (we have 27 holes so it does vary a bit). It really helps to have accurate yardage, even though I may not hit my clubs very precisely. I find it also helps speed up the game, you just set your bag down by your ball and know your yardage right away - no walking around looking for sprinkler heads.

Re: Sky Caddie?
I have always been scared of getting one and getting too used to using it, then not being able to use it in tournaments. I believe in some events or tours it is still not allowed to be used during play, only in practice rounds.

Re: Sky Caddie?
The SkyCaddie is legal in all USGA tournaments AFAIK, so no worries about being unable to use it at anytime.
