limited betting is dead to me
Brag: nl makes me a lot less frustrated and less stressed out in life and the money is great for the level of stress. I'm not great but not a slouch at it, either. I'm learning a lot every day.
Beat: sad day...I owe almost all of my financial success to LHE. variance: All canterbury spreads is lhe. Also I can't drink and play NL cause I'm the worst. I still like HUHU lhe, but 6max is for the birds (mb cause i suck at it these days). bonus: even though we were playing LHE I got schneider to go all in and busted him at 30/60 the other night. Not half as exciting as busting him at nl but it's hard to convince him to play NL when he wins so much at stupid betting. |

Re: limited betting is dead to me
BK,
just wanted to say that your early success in limit holdem was a pretty big inspiration for me. I remember when you were posting way back in the day about having 60k months, which were practically unheard of. What made you switch to NL? Was it that big downswing? How big did it get if you dont mind me asking. Also, how does your NL earn compare to your limit earn? |

I am finding NL MUCH less stressful too.

Re: limited betting is dead to me
I'm glad I could be an inspiration to you. Always nice to hear.
I had/have always wanted to learn NL so over the past like 6 months or so, so I split my time. I went back to limit at the beginning of the year and didn't really play NL til a month ago. I've played about 150k hands of NL now ranging from 1/2 to 10/20. Most of the hands lately are at 1/2 and 2/4. I have been playing a little bigger lately if i find decent game but my sample sizes are small. In the last month I've played 37k hands of NL and have won 13k (5.6ptbb/100). Not exactly hero money but plenty sufficient and given I haven't been pissed at poker in that time I'll take it straight to the bank/my happy place. It's a much more 'constant' 13k than winning 13k at limit. I feel that 200/hour is a pretty good estimate of my earn in may given my learning and game selection. I know all of my sample sizes are small, but judging from everything I've seen from other people, I feel like my guesses are reasonable. I thought my LHE downswing was worse than it was, it was 800 bets or so, then i got most of it back and had a 700bb drop. Forget it. Stressful crap. I'm sure NL will stress me out sometime too, but even today I tried playing limit and I was winning and I was stressed out/pissed off. I dunno what it is, but it just rubs me the wrong way these days. edit: oh and all the running bad combo'd with all the heads up I played has made me a crappy 6max lhe player. I've lost my hand reading abilities or something. I'll finally admit I play bad (compared to good lhe players, obv I can beat retards lol) edit 2: I've won 5200 in 5800 hands of LHE (4.28 bb/100) in the last month and I still hate it. |
