I've played in the neighborhood of 5k sngs that pay 50-30-20 in the past 6 months, so I have a pretty good idea of how to play them. For the past 1k SNGs I've played (9 person) my finish distribution is roughly 16-15-18% 1st-2nd-3rd (so I've been running well, but that's not the point).
I'd assume the biggest key would be to accumulate chips early on and play in more marginal spots to try to get a big stack early as opposed to playing tight until the blinds get bigger and pushbotting/treading water into the money. My finish distribution as of late suggests I stick around on the bubble and back into 3rd place very often as a shorter stack, so I'm thinking I'd need to look more for +cEV spots early and on the bubble a bit more even as a medium stack, instead of dragging things out until I win a 60/40 to survive and get my money back for 3rd. One other thought that's occurred to me is the payout jumps 20% from 3rd to 2nd as well as 2nd to 1st, so the big stack could have even more value when down to 3 players in a "mini-bubble" where the other 2 medium/short stacks get worn down trying to survive for 2nd place with a bigger jump in payout. The SNGs I'm thinking are live and stacks start at 20BB so I'd almost be in "pushbot mode" already at the beginning, with another difference being there are 10 players instead of 9 at the start, which would just advocate an even tighter mode of play to begin with. Buy-in is $100 or $200 so I'm guessing they'll be pretty soft. If anyone else has any experience with this type of SNG I'd appreciate a little advice, as I've never played a live STT before and am not quite sure what to expect. |

Seriously, no one has any suggestions at all? Is there any way to go over hands with different payout structures with a program like SNGPT or does everyone here only know how to play 50-30-20 like me?

SNGPT allows you to plus in whatever pay structure you want. Purchase it and use it. |

You could start by asking an actual question or clarifying what the heck a 50-30-10 payout is.

I would adjust by finding a SNG that pays out 100% en totale.
50+30+10 =90 |

3 guys go to rent a hotel room, the room is $30, so they each pay $10. Later that night the hotel guy finds out the room is only $25 so he gives $5 to the bell boy to split between the 3 guys. The bellboy did not know how to split $5 in 3 ways so he kept $2 for himself and gave $1 to each guy so the guys only paid $9 a piece right? So if the guys paid $27 and the bellboy kept $2, where is the other dollar?

Lolz 9+9+9+1+1+1=30
$30-$27=3 which is given back to the men (the two dollars is from the 27 that was paid) |
