Except for the 'Moneymaker Million' where you could buy-in for 10 FPP and have a decent shot at some big money if you got through Round 1--which was very difficult--I haven't really seen anything that convinces me these FPP are anything but a big ripoff when compared to rakeback or bonuses.

I play micros and have built up to about 310. Takes 500 to play in a qualifier for the Sunday Million. About 1/27 make the cut in the qualifier, gets you a $215 buyin to the ME. This seems like it could be a good deal, but I'm not sure.

Any thoughts on FPP vs. rakeback?

Also which site that Americans can still play on has the best rakeback/bonus program?

There are:

- 40 FPP and 100 FPP sats to WSOP
- 130 FPP satellites for Silver VIP
- 375 FPP S & G satellites to Sunday Million.

And probably some more.

Hey. Just seems like these are all huge longshots, which makes the FPP kind of a joke when compared the rakeback and bonuses.

The EV here just doesn't cut it.

Sure if you love poker and would play for free it's okay, but your hourly will be atrocious compared to cash games if you're any good.

If you only have 310 FPP's then you are playing the WAY teeny micros I suspect.

How much rakeback would you expect to make at another site playing that small?


Also - you are correct the moneymaker 10 FPP satellite things were actually a decent deal for the money.

10 FPP's is worth approximately $0.15 or $0.16.
But the value of an entry for some of those was in the $0.50 range IIRC.

Well one of the reasons I posted, the main one in fact, is that I don't know much about this subject.

What I do know is that I'm paying way too much in rake compared to what I'm winning. Like 25-30% of my total profit. I know that's largely my fault for playing the micros, but that doesn't make it any less of a ripoff from my perspective. I know this probably isn't uncommon for the industry, but I don't have to like it.

I appreciate you enlightening me on this, I knew the MM was a great deal at the time but 300% overlay is pretty remarkable. I played the ones on Mon and Tue morning when there were only like 1200-1600 players usually, 50 still advanced. Sure hope they run it again, but I'm not optimistic after the law.

I suspect there are probably some other good deals--not that good--but I haven't found any.

most people playing online would love to have a 25-30% rake-to-profit ratio.

It still sounds like a high commission to me.

What would you say is the average for a decent player?
