PLO25: A8xx on K88A7 board
Hero is UTG with $25 and 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
SB covers and is 42/0/0.5 over 19 hands. Hero limps, 2 limpers, SB completes, BB checks. Flop K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($1.20) Blinds check, hero pots, 2 folds, SB calls, BB folds. Turn A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($3.50) SB checks, hero pots, SB calls. River 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($10.15) SB checks, hero...? Pot and call a shove? Check behind? Bet smaller and fold to a raise? Is my line too aggro up to river? |

Re: PLO25: A8xx on K88A7 board
Um, there are two hands that beat you, and given his action there is no way you can put him on either. I'd pot and call a shove all day.
I think your line is fine. When I have trips like this I usually like to be the first one betting, because if I get c/r I can find the fold button more easily. As played, there's no reason to think you are behind. I wouldn't overestimate his 0.5 aggression factor, because that's total aggression and if he's raising pf 0% of the time, that's going to throw that number way off. Also, it's a small sample size. Anyway, pot and call a shove. You should hope he has 8xxx here and get stubborn, or had 87xx and made a bad boat. |

Re: PLO25: A8xx on K88A7 board
I don't mind a value bet here, but I really don't see the point of calling a push.
Also, at this level many players will slowplay KK, and if you do get checkraised on the river it will most likely be that hand. |

Re: PLO25: A8xx on K88A7 board
The problem here to me is that if he bets pot, the only hand that will call or shove is one that has him beat. I don't think trips can call here once the flush has been made on the river, and I don't think a flush can call here seeing as how he's pot it every street. The only hands that will call that he has beat are K8 and 87, or a total bluff/cr on the river. I'd probably check behind in fear because I don't think he can call a shove.

Re: PLO25: A8xx on K88A7 board
But this is the $25 game, right? If you bet 1/2 pot or so you can expect calls from trips, 87, or a flush.

Re: PLO25: A8xx on K88A7 board
I potted and called a shove and he had KKxx. I was left a bit puzzled - are third nuts NEVER good in this game?
I think the correct line probably is to bet $5 to $8 so that a flush or trips can begrudgingly call. Not sure what to do when he shoves over the top of that bet... it could still be A8xx for a split or 8Kxx/87xx for worse boats... |
