Pot control gone bad
Villain is 20/8 over 250 hands...Do you guys call this river? Also, how is the flop check? I usually bet here but figured I'd mix it up.

Re: Pot control gone bad
Call IMHO. There is no reason to auto-fear the 5, he 'shouldn't' have one and he knows that you shouldn't either. I think theres a good chance he's value betting you with AQ-AJ thinking you've got a weaker ace or can't fold KK-JJ. This is a toughy though - its for this reason I just always bet this flop as his resultant action gives you soooooo much more info to work on if you get in trouble on later streets.

looks like a clear fold [/ QUOTE ] If AK is the strongest hand you ever check behind the flop with, folding is criminal. The most important reason to check behind a hand as strong as AK is to make bluffing on the turn and river less (if at all) profitable (protecting your marginal hands), you can't do that if you're going to fold the top of your range! |

Re: Pot control gone bad
How can you not like that flop? What exactly ARE you looking for? Realistically there are only 3 hands that beat you AA (unlikely as case aces), 77 and 44. Cracking flop for AK as I see it.
To the OP - I think the key lesson to take here is that you needlessly tipped control of the hand to villian and put all the difficult decisions onto yourself. Your whole ethos should be to do the exact opposite. |

Re: Pot control gone bad
Looks like he missed a flop CR or made aces up on't turn. I think it's a clear fold, too. Something like A2+ I'm guessing.

Re: Pot control gone bad
I think you have to call because your hand is under-repped.
