advice for a noob on buying an electric guitar
The other day I was listening to some rock music and I thought [censored] it I've got to learn how to play the electric guitar.
I'm an absolute beginner who doesn't have much of a clue where to start. So far I'm thinking that I'll get the Squier SE100 electric guitar pack or the Marshall rockkit both packs come with everything I need to get started so I could open the box and get straight into it. Would I just be better off buying an acoustic guitar and then trade up to electric as I get better? Would there be any downfall in starting with an electric guitar? Could anyone comment on either guitar pack? What about the amps? Am I going in the wrong direction with buying one of these packs? Thanks oot |

How many of these threads do we get? One a week would be about the average, right?

Re: advice for a noob on buying an electric guitar
If you are really going to stick with it then go for those $300-$500 electric guitars. If you are like me and tend to change hobbies every 3 months then go with THIS . If guitar ain't for you then you are only out $50. Also go to Justin Guitar for some free learning.

Re: advice for a noob on buying an electric guitar
Just go for the squier, there pretty much the standard first guitar- you see them everywhere.
Although marshall do make some great stuff, theres no real need to get something more expensive for a starter guiter. Just get something that is within your price range, as all your gonna need it for is practicing chords, how to hold and use the guitar in general. Good luck with it, also search for guitar 'tabs'- its an easy way to learn your favourite songs in an easy-to-read way. Scott. |

OP, search for threads in the last month about guitars, should be at least 2. a squier is fine to learn on. lots of people will tell you to learn on an acoustic but i don't think it matters. if you're more interested in playing an electric guitar, play one. that'll make it more likely that you stick with it. |
