NL$100 AQ with good draw...
Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 8 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $81.10 UTG+1: $130.35 --->plays a 50/8/.5 over about 100 hands MP1: $97 ---> plays a 28/11/2.88 over 89 hands. seems pretty solid MP2: $171.25 CO: $159.90 Hero: $104.30 SB: $39.20 BB: $79.35 i've been playing a 12/6 or so over about 50 hands i think Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises to $5, 2 folds, Hero calls, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls. preflop, not sure why I called this, this is usually a standard fold for me. Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($16.5, 3 players) UTG+1 bets $11, MP1 raises to $40,Hero ?? calling i think is very bad... so it's pushing or folding. not sure if pushing will get MP1 to lay down something like AxK [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] since he's put in half his stack already anyways... is this even a debate or should I be laying this down ? or is MP1's range and stats enough to make this a push |

Re: NL$100 AQ with good draw...
call, they both will call.
if you shove, somebody might fold. if you call, they both get the money in the pot, shove turn. |

Re: NL$100 AQ with good draw...
I agree with the above poster, a call is probably your best play. Call and push the turn. A push here almost certainly gets UTG+1 out unless hes flopped a set/combo draw, while a call might keep him in. MP1 is obviously not going anywhere unless his raise was a bluff. He's got AK at the very worst, maybe AA. The only arguement against calling is that the third spade might kill your action but the pot will be so big at that point that everyone will be pot committed.
Push is only a slightly worse option. I still think MP1 has pot committed himself with his raise so he's going to call. You're probably behind but you've got lots of outs (probably 8-11)and there is lots of money already in the pot so pushing is +EV. Also, this seems like a very tight fold preflop. Granted I'm a bit looser than you (21/11 or so), but I'm 3betting in this spot pretty often against someone who raises as often as MP1 does. You're in position and you're probably ahead of his range. |

Re: NL$100 AQ with good draw...
I fold here. You're likely not getting action from the first player after your cold call. If you were 2 buyins deep, I would shove here because you said mp1 seems solid; no chance he calls off 1.5 buyins with AK with that action. Tons of fold equity with a nut redraw.

Re: NL$100 AQ with good draw...
I shove
I think you are ahead of MP1 >10% of the time, and chopping fairly often with a 9out redraw, you have a huge edge vs AQ you are 53.4/46.6 fav vs AQ+, AA, 2/1fav if he can have AJ 60/40 if it is 66,88, AJ+,AA |
