Re: The Nug [censored] rocks
You don't think America's gung-ho gun culture contributed to this guy's ideas?
Sure he might have been stopped by an armed student carrying a gun to his biology class. But he also might have never have gotten to the point where he felt comfortable and skilled popping off rounds into people, where he thought that going out with all guns blazing was "cool". We won't know, and your article is useless speculation. The article is also unbalanced - does it talk about the number of times someone carrying his legally concealed handgun lost his cool and shot someone? Where widespread familarity with guns led to a culture of using them to solve problems? The gun capital of the world, America, is also the murder capital of the civilized world, by a massive margin. It seems "citizen self protection" isn't working all that well. P.S. Any article that uses evil that many times should probably be ignored. |

Re: The Nug [censored] rocks
Fair enough (although I disagree with many points).
Ted Nugent is an expert with firearms and would have 0 issues capping someone like Cho in that situation. His point is that gun-free zones create a dangerous difference between criminals and normal citizens. I truly believe that anti-gun people need to address this issue more deeply if they want credibility. Further more, simply stating "ban all guns" isn't enough. You have to address criminal access to firearms. This can easily be extrapolated on a larger scale. As I've said all along, if you could guarantee me for 100% certainty that if banning all guns could stop all gun-related crime, I'd be first in line to give up my firearm. [/ QUOTE ] Citizens aren't allowed to wield weapons in many states. And the USA is the gun capital of the world? Neat counterpoint. |

Re: The Nug [censored] rocks
1) It's "The Nuge"
2) Besides "Stranglehold," not so much. Damn Yankees, anyone? 3) Yes, allowing a bunch of drunk aggro 18 year olds to carry Glocks sounds perfectly reasonable. |

[/ QUOTE ] Citizens aren't allowed to wield weapons in many states. And the USA is the gun capital of the world? Neat counterpoint. [/ QUOTE ] To address this point specifically (I live in CA)... I can have a loaded weapon in only one place, that is my home. I cannot take a loaded weapon in public without a CCW permit. You cannot get one of these easily. You must have a valid reason and have taken a course that is equivalent to police training. I am going to the range after work... my gun is in the back of my car, in a case, with a trigger lock. If ever the situation arose where I'd need to use it, I'd have to get my keys out, open my trunk, open the case, unlock the trigger lock, jump over my back seat to grab my ammo which is in a separate bag. I have 3 full magazines in my car (which may be illegal, I'm not sure... I don't think I'd ever go to jail for it since everything else is stored properly). California has a very high murder rate and this is how all legal gun owners without CCWs (the vast majority) carry weapons. I don't think your correlation is really very strong. If I carry my weapon in any other way I am a criminal. |
