Default I\'m having difficulty gaining weight...

I'm 18 years old and weigh 113 pounds. I've been trying to gain weight for the past couple of months now and nothing seems to work. So my question is, what are some ways to make the weight gain easier? How many calories should I eat per day? What types of weight lifting should I do?

Thanks for any advice.

Do you have a log of foods you eat?
www.fitday.com

How much do you currently consume?

What is your macro breakdown (carbs, protein, fats)?

What types of weight lifting do you have experience with?

Do you know proper form on squats, deadlifts, bench, etc?

A little more detail would help us give a better answer.

I've always had trouble gaining weight too. This past week I started taking protein, just eating alot, hit the gym a few times and I've already gained 10 lbs (small sample size?). Like Thremp said, just eat more.

Goose,

Probably water weight, etc. Maybe just have more food in you. Basically this is like the gov't solution to education except it actually works. Just throw more food at it.

Try mass gainer drinks. Add 300-1000 calories to your diet.

People who say eat more, not every one has the time to prepare 6 quality meals a day. Mass gainer drinks are invalueble to those who are short of time.

Please let's limit the discussion in this forum, and not elaborate on our answers or give reasons for them.

OP: Anything you do to get your calories helps out, including "weight gainer" although they aren't neccessary. The majority of your meals should be food based for the most part, or as much as you can allow. If I'm not eating I'm not growing should be your mantra (yes I stole that phrase from DJB.) Lotsa protein, lotsa carbs, lotsa healthy fats.

Answering some of those questions I provided early would give keys on how to tweak your current diet.

arod,

I wrote this in response to latefordinner's thread more or less:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post9929623

Discern from it what you can. I don't have the energy ATM, but skunkworks wrote some information up about weight gainers and its pretty WA:

http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle....cle=150school2

3rd question down. Check the date too BTW. The topic is so well covered there is no need for discussion. Its like whether you should do a warm up set before jumping into your work sets.

I will just add to Thremp's advice that plenty of supp companies now make weight gainers with better nutrition profiles.

You can learn a lot at t-nation, but sometimes they act as if their products are gold and they aren't.
