Default Busting my live cherry

Maybe I should post this in B&M, but it's not really a 'casino' question, it's more like a micro/small stakes question.

I'm planning on busting my live cherry in May sometime at Casino Niagara. I have been told that their smallest game is 1/2 with a capped $100 buy in.

As someone who always plays with 100BB or more online, how should my strategy change as I can buy in with only 50BB? Some friends have also mentioned that preflop raises are usually around 10x BB, so it almost seems like if I'm going to play a raised pot, I will be playing for my stack. With stacks this short, it seems like the optimal strategy is to wait for premium hands, push over a raise or on the flop, and repeat until I can get a stack and play some poker with other bigger stacks.

Anybody have any insight?
