How bad does it suck to have your wisdom teeth removed?

Yeah so my wisdom teeth are starting to bother me. How bad does it suck to get them removed? Mine are not exposed at all. Are they gonna put me out, or just use novacaine?

everyone is different, you can opt to be put out, or not. some get gassed to lossen them up for the IV, then get put out, along with novacaine, some dont need the gas. Personally, I just got gassed, and novacained, and was awake during the whole procedure. I got mine pulled on friday at about 3pm, after a few hours of pain, I fell asleep, woke up saturday about noon, and was feeling pretty good, I worked the next morning lifting christmas trees all day.


PS- getting the gas and staying away was awesome, I giggled at every quiestion, an hallucinated that Super Mario was doing the procedure.

For me it wasn't bad at all. All 4 removed (but none impacted) and you get put out, wake up high w/o your wisdom teeth, and it hurts the next day and probably the next day a little bit (yay painkillers) The only thing I can remember that sucked was eating kinda sucks for a week or two. It's just really sensitive and you have to make sure you clean out the cavities after you eat, I used a water squirter thing.

Barely impacted me (get it - impacted!). Had them out on a Thursday and after a good 24 hours of popping Tylenol 3's I was totally fine. Eating pizza by Saturday. Definitely ask them to give you the gas.

It depends on your physiology. Some people have no problems, get all 4 done at once, and are fine, minimal swelling, etc. Others are out of commission for a week. My ex-gf looked like a chipmunk and couldn't eat anything for about a week and was on drugs for most of it. She had all 4 done at once. My current girlfriend had two done at a time, but she was fine to eat later that day. So in short, it depends.

I got it done on Tuesday, didn't take a single painkiller, and was fine by Thursday. I was then left with two full bottles of heavy drugs. wheeeeeee

Yep, it varies a lot. I had them put me under because my little asian oral surgeon said that I wouldn't want to be awake to see her coming at me with large metal objects. It cost 400 extra dollars, I think.

When I woke up, I felt like crap. You have to keep a bunch of cotton or gauze or whatever in your mouth for several hours afterward, and you pretty much eat only liquids for a day or so.

My face was swollen up quite a bit, but I felt good enough to go to work 2 days later. I only took like 2 pain pills.

Now, my ex-girlfriend, she was vomiting blood.

So, it's a high-variance proposition.
