Default When to protect your hand and when to check behind?

No info on Villain. He was a shortstack who doubled up a couple times. That's it.

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $2/$4 Blinds - 4 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

Shortstacks usually seem to be calling station donks that can't fold top pair. I'd bet 70 and probably fold if he reraises. Shove non-heart rivers if called.

i bet/call this, or sometimes just shove.

but fold pf, raising two shorties with 57ss is not a great play.

Dont raise 57s vs short stack, the power of those hands is playing them in position and winning a small pot whit aggression, or hitting and getting paid off big. You can't get paid off big here. Maybe limp it and take it from the flop on if the table is passive, don't limp if you know you will often get raise behind.

Aside from that I'd go whit PDoom's line.

Bet/call all day. I'd bet about 80 or so and call a push. Preflop is marginal, but may be OK since it is 4 handed.
