So I'm wondering if I could get some of the vegas locals to give me their thoughts on this. Myself and another 2p2er are thinking of flying over on May 17th, and staying until Monday the 20th or so. Are the games going to be any good? My impression is that this might be an issue, as from what I read it's not quite summer and WSOP time, and not march madness or anything else. Is vegas empty this time of year or what?
We're also thinking about staying at Circus Circus because Expedia has it as 105 a room or so during that time and just taking cabs/walking to Wynn/Belagio etc. Thoughts on this? Originally we were thinking about going to AC during this time. Would AC be possibly better during this time as far as the games? Thanks for any comments/advice. edited to add that I was on the phone with the wynn, just for fun to see if they could do anything for me and they said the IFIC convention is in town (I'm not sure if I got the name right, or what it is). Any thoughts on what this means for poker players? |

Vegas is more fun than AC.
The low limit games are always going to be available and good. There is no reason to think that weekend will be poor. Walking from Circus Circus to Wynn is possible and pretty easy. The Bellagio is more of a hike from there. What games are you playing? What else are you planning to do? |

It's actually 85/ n (w/ a coupon) at circus w/ taxes and all for Fri-Sun. Wynn is booked that weekend, and everything else I've seen is 150+.
We'll be playing 8/16 to 15/30 mostly, maybe 30/60 limit for me. Maybe some 1/2 NL (both of us suck). And Dave probably wants a donkament. I know that we can probably afford to stay at a better place, but part of why i wanna do this is b/c we can make it so cheap (my non-stop flight from Philly would be 200). I don't mind the exercise to walk to Wynn, maybe Bellagio. I don't plan on walking at night (take a cab should we come back b/f 6 am). We probably won't be seeing a show or doing anything non-poker related (except club/ strip club maybe). Does this sound reasonable. |

may want to check excalibur if you havent already. some friends and i booked it for $51/night from may 28-june 1st. given, those are all weeknights and not weekend nights, but never know.
not sure about poker rates in vegas, but you may be able to call and ask about those, it seems like you'll easily qualify. im sure someone who has gone to vegas more or someone who lives there can answer that better than i can. as far as the conventions go, ive heard that it doesnt make a big difference since there are so many players there anyway. although, i did play at the riviera last year during a pool players tournament/convention and it was stupidly ridiculous (many attempted to go all in on a limit table...over..and over..). again, a more frequent visitor or local of vegas would know alot more than me. best of luck |

you can always try imperial palace. their rooms should be under 100 and its within walking distance of bellagio. wynn youd probably need to cab it. also, if your buddy wants to play a tourney, caesars has some of the best ones around and its right across the street. skip the clubs, just hit the strip clubs. drinks are the same price and you get to see guaranteed boobies. rhino is obviously standard for this.
8/16 and 15/30 games should be going at both bellagio and wynn all the time. Bellagio will have 30/60 too, wynn should b/c its the weekend. Im pretty sure the venetians $1 rake for 8/16 and 15/30 games is still going then, so that might be worth checking out too. |

I'm assuming you've done all the due diligence, and are confident that 85/weekend night is the best you can do. Well, the cost of bussing/cabbing once/twince/4 times a day should be included. Which for 2 guys adds min. 15 bucks a day, prob. twice that. Walking from circus to mid-strip is bunk, and a waste of time unless you need some time to guzzle a 26 of happy juice w/out judgment before you arrive somewhere.
btw: if your hourly rate is like 20/hr, then wasting an hour walking just cost you 20, while a cab would've cost 10. You want to play Mirage (10/20 or 1/2), Wynn (8/16, 1/3NL), Bellagio (8/16, 15/30, 2/5NL) or Venetian (1/2NL, 8/16, other?) so everything should be planned around those destinations. So try to get a poker rate at Mirage, and it may be worth the 40-60 more per night due to the extra hours of play you get in (2people, 20/hr, 2 extra hours per day each = $80 savings by staying mid strip!!) Plus, you have way more fun staying somewhere like Mirage rather than circus. Same time calcs. hold true for places like IP, Casino Royale etc etc. p.s the only good 30 game is at the B, 20 at Mirage was okay, Venetian has good tourneys for Dave and may have mid-stakes LHE during their promo time (I wouldn't know). |

![]() On a side note, Rent a car and save the Cab fees. 2 or 3 rides in a cab = 1 day car rental. Just FYI |

you can always try imperial palace. their rooms should be under 100 [/ QUOTE ] $750 total for those 3 dates at IP. No kidding. Flamingo breaks the $1000 mark. The Orleans (off Strip) is around $330 for those three nights, and far nicer than Circus Circus. If you take Mr Fizzbin's advice and rent a car anyway, this can work out. |

That actually should be a great weekend to come. You got the WPT main event at the Mirage (May 19-23), you'd be in time for the super sat May 18,
And you have the International Council of Shopping Centers Convention (45,000 members) starting monday the 21st. Most of these guys will come in early for the weekend, and are very rich, competetive, egotistical real estate types |
