Default Variance in PLO8?

I have no experience with the game, but a 2/5 PLO8 has been going at the local B&M recently so I'm thinking about learning. Is the variance higher than NLHE (i.e. will the bankroll requirements differ from playing 2/5 NLHE?)

The variance SHOULD be lower than a NLHE game of the same structure. This can be effected by your play and the nature of the NLHE and PLO8 games youre playing in.

By the way, which local casino is this? Theres an ongoing search for live PLO8 games, and im curious where they have them.

This is at the Riverrock in Richmond, B.C. (Canada). It's a new game, but it's gone every time I've been there in the past few weeks.

Do you mean "gone" as in "not there", or "gone" as in "gone on"/"occured"?

I recently heard about this very game, and have been meaning to make my way up there to try it out (I live in Seattle).

Id be interested in hearing your opinions on the game, and how it plays. Having played ANY live PLO8 puts you in the minority on this forum.

'Gone', as in, it's happened. I'd call ahead to see if it's going, most of the time it seems like it's in the evenings when they get a full list of players.

From what I've heard there's been tons of action, but also hear from the dealers that there's always a bunch of arguments between nits, probably because it's a new game.

Will have to read a book or something first, have never played any PLO games. But I'm assuming the line-up can't be that great, so I'm willing to take a shot at it soon.

Depends.

If you play ultra LAG it's going to be anywhere from lower-same-much-higher.

Overall it'll be lower than NLHE, but I wouldn't play live 2-5 PLO8 w/o 20 100 BB buy-ins.

Also, since it's live, you might wind up in some crazy games w/ players who've never played PLO8 before, thus makign the variance a lot higher.
