100NL QQ K-high flop against pretty short stack
Full table. Relevant stack sizes are as follows:
SB ($130) BB ($50) Hero ($125) MP+2 ($38) Hero has Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 1 fold, Hero raises $5, MP+1 calls, SB and BB call Flop: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (pot is $20) 2 checks, Hero bets $10, MP+1 calls, 2 folds Turn: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (pot is $40) Hero checks, MP+1 bets $23 ans is all-in, Hero folds With 3 callers I probably should have just given it up on the flop figuring someone for a K. Does anyone think I should have cbet here like I did. Also, is my c/f ok on turn or do I have odds to call hoping short stack has a T or a draw like QJ? Sorry I have no reads on these players. |

Re: 100NL QQ K-high flop against pretty short stack
I don't like a c-bet here with a 4 way flop. I don't necessarily think you're beat 100% of the time but being OOP and in the hand with two guys who can reasonably push a lot of crappy hands over your bet due to short stackedness I think this is a hand where I give up.

Re: 100NL QQ K-high flop against pretty short stack
I cbet $15 here always. Villains are much more likely to be calling with PPs and SCs than a K and you only have one of them behind you. At that point I'm insta-calling what'll be a pretty small turn push by shorty.
As played, only way I'm folding turn is if shorty is nitty. He's got AT or QJ often enough to make this a call at almost 2:1 IMHO. |

Re: 100NL QQ K-high flop against pretty short stack
Would you have just put him all in on turn? I mean we are almost sure he is going to push all in if checked to. So, in general, is it better against a short stack to induce a bet by checking or just put him all in.
My thinking is that it is best to check to induce a push and then call since he is unlikely to call our push with just a ten but will usually bet with it after checked to. Is this correct? |

Re: 100NL QQ K-high flop against pretty short stack
What hands do you expect him to have? He hasn't reraised so you I wouldn't put him on A's, AK. Maybe he has something like KJ. Any other king seems somewhat unlikely to me and I can't see him having pocket 10's. I think you call, your ahead enough to warrant the 2:1 odds. Of course thats with no reads (: Shame you didn't call would have liked to have seen what he had.
