Default does alcohol go bad?

A friend is moving. He has a about 20 bottles of alcohol he wants to sell me for 150 canadian. The bottles are about 10-20 years old and are unopened. (he got them from parents who got them as gifts over time. No one in his family drinks)

Some of the stuff is very nice. Most is whiskey, scotch, rum, but there is other stuff like tia maria and baileys.

Anyone know if sitting on his shelf for 10-20 years affect the stuff?

If they were near room temperature and away from direct sunlight the whole time they're probably fine.

It's fine.

Went through this a couple years ago when my mom skipped country. I had many fine nights with 10+ year old alcohol, including some that had been opened previously.

gamblore,

Things like whiskey and scotch get horrible with age. If you have bottles labeled "20 years" and so on, they're probably long since dead.

The good thing is that I actually have a weird taste for really bad and old scotch, so i'd be happy to take any of these bottles off your hands!

Your friend,
asofel

BaileysŪ delivers that smooth BaileysŪ taste for 24 months from the day it was made.

Not sure about the other items but Google is your friend. It took me less time to find that then it did to type this reply.
Generally speaking my guess would be old scotch, whiskey, etc. = good. Stuff made with heavy amounts of sugar or things that have the word 'cream' right in the title = bad.

some types of wine get way better with aging. also for every type of alcohol it depends if they were kept in a dark cold place, if they were most of them are probably still fine, except the commercial stuff like Baileys or that Tia Maria, but the scotch and wine should still be good.

The Tia maria and baileys will be LONG gone but don't worry about it because Bailey's is disgusting anyway.
