So after this hand I make a note that this player likes to play low suited connectors. Soon afterwards the next hand takes place. Should I be trying to get away from the second hand based on my reads on the first? I mean I do have a set here. Greg |

Why check the flop?

Re: 1 opponant 2 hands, 2 sets: NL25
On the second hand I thought checking the flop allowed someone to catch up to a top pair kind of second best hand. With top set on a really dry board it seemed like the right play at the time.

Re: 1 opponant 2 hands, 2 sets: NL25
both hands are more or less fine, no, you shouldn't even consider folding hand two, especially getting about 4 to 1. even if you knew he had a straight you could still call to draw to a house.
only comment is 1)open raise pf in hand 1 2)there you won't get any extra trapped money by cr that flop that you wouldn't get by leading, that said the button isn't continuation betting this flop into 3 opponents often at all so you really should look to lead. otherwise well played. hope your running well (other than these hands obv) |

anyways I think that Sklansky agrees with that tactic at least.

anyways I think that Sklansky agrees with that tactic at least. http://www.twoplustwo.com/magazine/c...ansky0407.html [/ QUOTE ] This article is absolutely horrible strategy for a 6 max game. hand 1 you need to raise preflop. hand 2 you need to 3bet preflop since you know villan is raising a wide range. |

[/ QUOTE ] So is hand 1 a pf raise because I am first in? There was quite a lot of limping pots at this table and I though I would be able to get it in cheap. Is this to build a pot? Hand 2 I am not sure if I agree with the pf 3 bet. I don't have position and am playing a big pot oop if I miss. This guy could be an idiot or he could just be mixing it up. I think I still like keeping the pot small and then trying to get it all in on a good flop. Greg PS Yes I agree that the sklansky article does not seem as applicable at 6max or at the micro's. |

Re: 1 opponant 2 hands, 2 sets: NL25
awful check on set of 9's?? no reason to check.. allows draws or hands that can be improved by the turn.. second hand is rubbish poker..
call pre flop is fine... raise flop i would even lead out... raise turn from 3- 10.. shove river... |
