Default kinda deep, turned 2 pair on a coordinated board

My opponent was pretty aggressive and possibly tilting. I was up 2.5 BI mostly just setup hands but the last time I stacked him he called from the bb with q8 and checkraised a 378 board and got it for a bunch of chips vs my 7+FD. I frequently bet this flop but he was checkraising me a lot so I decided to take a card off. He was leading around 40% of the turns I checked. I hadn't checked flop + raised turn before this. I'm pretty sure I screwed up a couple times this hand just wanted some input.

I think I'd definitely lead the flop just to see how he reacts to it. As played I'd call turn and re evaluate. Folding is ok though.

If I call (I don't think I even agree with a call) he will have $399 left on the river and the pot will be $504. What's my plan?

there are a lot of semibluff possibilities and you have a weak looking line, i would call and call most rivers i think. it's tough to say without the information a flop bet gives.

i think the flop check is decent but i think if u feel like he is going to c/r lighty, assuming he is not a v good player, u should just bet flop and call a c/r and play the hand from there on out. seems like too strong a hand to check behind hu, but i don't think it's terrible or anything by any means to check it back.

i like the turn raise but would prob just fold to the 3-bet. at first i was thinking shove...but seems like he has to have a straight or a set, and sometimes a bigger two pair, almost always. fwiw, this, "I hadn't checked flop + raised turn before this." is pretty much the clincher for me wanting to fold the turn.
