Default Killer Poker by John Vorhaus

I know alot of people think his Killer Poker Online 2 book was bad but he has came out with a new book this year called Killer Poker. Actually i was in the book store last night and i read one page of it and he talks about not playing small pots in cash games he says big pots are all that matters. . Has anyone read the book in full if so is it a good book?

I believe Killer Poker is his first book. I skimmed each of the chapters in the store about a year and half ago. I really don't remember enough to give details but I found the book to be quite bad.

No, I think John has a new one called Killer Poker No Limit.

"he talks about not playing small pots in cash games he says big pots are all that matters."

Hmmm... That sounds like someone geting ready to stack off with TPTK. "Excuse me, but may I sit on your left?"

I read Killer Poker by the Numbers and, well... well, it stunk. I only got through 2/3 of it because it was just soooo slow, dry, repetative and pedantic.

It is the only poker book I've ever given a bad review.

I've got it and on my second read. It's Killer Poker No Limit, and it's good. Yes, there's nothing ground-breaking or the next new thing, but it's very solid and has some good ideas. I haven't said anything about it to anyone because no one has much good to say here about non-2+2 books. Combine KPNL with Angel's book and you're going to play very solid NL poker at live casinos. Until the Pro NL comes out.

It's more than worth the $15 I paid for it.

I thought Killer Poker by the numbers was the only good book in the killer poker line.

It actually has some substance to it. I did not find it repetitive. It was dry if you get bogged down in the numbers, but if you read the beginning of it, he starts it off well so that the numbers and notation he uses is easily understandable.

yeah, i have KP-NL, which was just released recently.

i think it's a decent book and given the shortage of NL books i think it's worthwhile.

his writing about actual poker strategy isn't that bad... i think his earliest books were filled with "stay hydrated" and generic stuff like that.

hopefully, there will be a flood of good NL books (flynn/mehta/miller, ciaffone, full tilt, large negreanu) soon and you won't have to look for stop-gap books anymore.

this one is decent.... i think you can see some of john vorhaus' strategy articles on pokerpages.com and judge for yourself. the articles are similar in nature to the book, but the book is more comprehensive.

I'm considering buying Killer Poker, I read mostly bad things about it but one thing I did find is on pocketfives.
Check out the profile for Annette Obrestad (Annette_15) she list it as one of her favorite books. Makes me wonder..

Please do, maybe she is so smart she wants folks to read a bad book! If that's the case, PM me
