Default Lingo Question!

Hi! I've been playing poker for the last 8 months or so, have read Harrington's books (among others) and so on - but have only recently started looking at these forums and have a bit of trouble with some of the acronyms that get used here.

My main one is the XBB/100, ie "5BB/100". From the context it is obviously a measure of how much you are winning, but what does it mean exactly? BB I assume is Big Blind, but after that I am a little in the dark.

Thanks in advance - sorry for the 2p2 novice question!

its a players winrate specific to the program pokertracker

it means 'big bets per 100 hands played"

so with a 2BB/100 and 2000 hands played, that's +40BB

Ah, OK - so it's the rate at which you get involved in big hands, regardless of the outcome of that hand?

I'll be buying PT in the next day or so, so hopefully it will explain some of this.

No, not exactly. A "big bet" is just 2 big blinds. So if you're playing $1/2 NLH, a "big bet" would be $4. If you play 1000 hands and win $38, that's 9.5 big bets (that is, 9.5BB) over 1000 hands (9.5BB/1000), which translates to .95BB/100.

Ah - one more, I've been reading a tourney win report.

When he describes the flop he says some thing like 875 rainbow. Rainbow = all different suits?

Thanks.

One more for you! I read things like 200NL but then the hand histories are for a $2 game.. Is it measured in cents?

You are winning at a rate of 5 big blinds per 100 hands played. I wish I were.

Sorry, I guess my question was ambiguous.

What I mean is, on these forums I see people talking about how they play in 200NL, but the games they talk about seem to have blinds of $1/$2. 200NL would seem to imply blinds of $100/$200 to me.

So, it it measured in cents?
