A fairly simple spot i don\'t really know how to play
Stars 109 FO. Villain new to table. Shoving 11X and well over 30 BB's seems excessive, but then i can't really raise 1/3rd of my stack and fold to shove can i? Just call????

Re: A fairly simple spot i don\'t really know how to play
Call > Shove > Raise > Fold ... I think, but I am preety much never doing anythin except calling because I dont want to commit myself early to a best case scenario race when he calls, when I dont know anything about my opponent... If I had a read on villian this could be easily swayed in another direction because it really isn't that bad to make the shove or raise here... Just not best EV...

Re: A fairly simple spot i don\'t really know how to play
I basically always call in this spot. If I were out of position I'd make it 2k-2400 and call a shove/shove any flop.

Call and raise seem the best, personally leaning towards calling a little. i like calling cause you are probably a better post flop player

Re: A fairly simple spot i don\'t really know how to play
raise makes it too easy to get stop and goed on.
I probably just shove here because CO's open range is enormous so we have a lot of FE. Also we are going to have to fold to continuation bets way too often when we miss and obviously you are not going to stack the CO whenever we hit our set so calling for set value is nonsense. I think that if I called preflop I would probably wind up calling down thin very often and if I am going to call down on a J62 flop then I think that it makes more sense to just get QJo to make a mistake by folding to us preflop. If you call the SB will be shoving a pretty wide range - are you calling a 3 way all in here? The fact that a call might induce a squeeze is really the best defense that I see for smooth calling in this hand. |

[ QUOTE ] Call all day. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] If we call are we shoving on ace-rag-rag flops when he leads into us? king-rag-rag? are we betting Axy or Kxy if he checks to us? if we are folding to a c-bet on any of these boards then his initiative advantage > our positional advantage. And if we are not folding to a c-bet then aren't we letting him play closer to optimally than if we just shove on him preflop? |
