Default input on laser printer?

I am considering purchasing a color laser printer. Its my understanding that because they use dry toner they just plain print better than inkjets.

I know initially they are more expensive, but the number of pages you can print between toner carttridge changes/fills is exponential compared to cartridges. Correct?
I can find complete toner refills for less than 100 on eBay.
Any thoughts? suggestions/experience with brands?

laser is generally cheaper and faster per page than inkjet.

print quality I don't believe is as fine on laser printers.

inkjets are extremely cheap compared w/ lasers (generally speaking) and until about a year ago there were no sub-$100 laser printers (now there are several).

There were $30 inkjet printers like 5 years ago.

You can get inkjet refilled EXTREMELY cheaply by getting kits off the net

The part i like about laser is that you dont need to worry about catridges drying out or going bad if not used up for a long while.
Sub $100 laser printers?
Newegg?

Before purchasing a laser printer, I always price out toner cartridges and print capacity per cartridge to get a cost per page toner-wise. Very often cheap laser printers cost 3x per page to own than a similar/better-featured model for only another $50 or so. What good is a $70 laser printer if the toner cartridges are $150 and only yield 500 pages compared to a $150 printer w/ $70 toner cartridges that yield 1500 pages.

Agreed, what about toner refill kits? Are they reliable?

Not personally, but I have seen the results of a broken toner cartrdige. Point taken, but it seems like, if you are careful it can be done succesfully... In the garage or backyard
