OOT Insult/Cursing Clarification (Anatomy Question)
It seems that there is a different standard when using the female anatomy C-word versus the male anatomy D-word. This is especially true when it comes to using these words to insult people.
In my mind, the words, when used as insults, are equally mean/nasty/degrading, however, it seems that in OOT the C-word is taken more seriously than the D-word. Is my perception correct? If so, what the heck is the difference? |

what is the basis for this impression that you have?
also the c-word is censored so it doesn't seem like you could call someone that without circumventing the filter |

what is the basis for this impression that you have? also the c-word is censored so it doesn't seem like you could call someone that without circumventing the filter [/ QUOTE ] The fact that one is censored and the other isn't is partially the basis for my impression. Also, I circumvented the filter and called someone a C. The post was deleted and there was a minor backlash towards me. As part of the backlash someone called me a D, yet there was no backlash (which could be because he was right to call me a D and I was wrong to call someone a C, but whatev) and, more importantly, that post wasn't deleted. I'm specifically interested to know why one post was deleted but the other wasn't. Both posts were basically one-liners saying "you are a D/C." |

So what if I'm posting about someone named Dick? I don't know of anyone named [censored].

Just [censored] type. What is so hard about this?
If Mat/Admins want dick censored, it will be, if not...who cares? The filters are in place for a reason. Let them do there job. |

The male anatomy "c" word is also filtered. 2+2 is an EOE.

Re: OOT Insult/Cursing Clarification (Anatomy Question)
The C-word is generally considered the most offensive word in the English language.
Dick isnt. It isnt a double standard, so much as a standard. |

Re: OOT Insult/Cursing Clarification (Anatomy Question)
They are definitely not equal. Dick is often used to call someone a jerk. Whereas the C word is really only used when someone wants to hurt a womans feelings.
Phil, The C-word generally being considered the most offensive word in the English language is probably more true in the UK than it is in the US. But any time it is directed at a woman i'd agree. |

Re: OOT Insult/Cursing Clarification (Anatomy Question)
cabn, it's my understanding (from watching movies like "Snatch") that the C-word is bandied about rather loosely across the pond and is often used in a derogatory manner towards men too. In other words I think it's not as big of a deal over there.
ElDuque, what are you going for here? In that thread VoraciousReader provided some pretty in-depth insight into what women want and how you effed up on your date. She wasn't confrontational or insulting, and yet you called her a see-DOT-you-en-tee. That would be totally uncalled for in almost any context, but was a giant WTF in that case. |

Wow, you should have been banned. I can't believe you would complain about it here.
