beat: broken glass in garbage disposal

i remember my flatmate telling me broke a wine glass a few days ago. He of course keeps a pile of dishes in the sink at all times, and as i finally go to clear it out today i see that the garbage disposal is not working. hmmm, i reset, push the blades through, and turn it back on, only to hear the grinding of glass.

[censored] douchebag. anyone know of the best way to fix this? i prefer no plumber, since i will undoubtedly face this again in the future and want to be able to deal with it.

My roommate and I had broken glass in our disposal a few days ago. Get a flashlight, and have one person hold it, while the other fishes in the disposal with two forks, or tongs, or something like that.

This happened to me in college. Twice in the same week, a shot glass got caught in the disposal. Needed to replace it both times.

Have him get some gloves on and pull that crap out, at least the larger pieces. If you grind it, you'll eventually have a plugged up drain line and you'll need to get a plumber to snake it out. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I had this happen once, I pulled the whole thing out and shook it out over a trash can. Then I took a flat head screwdriver and used it to dig out all the pieces of glass that were stuck in the sides. As you can tell it was a huge pain in the ass, but I did get it working again. Good Luck.
