Default Investing in Asia

I would like to begin investing in Asia.

I do not like risk. At all.

Any reccomendations? Do they have anything like the SP500 that is relatively stable and consistent? What about these structured deposits I keep hearing about?

Singapore or Hong Kong or ????

Thanks!

There are lots of major banks in Asia that offer a range of investment products etc. I am sure there are lots of rich asian investors who share my disdain for risk and who keep significant portions of their portfolion in Asia...

Unless you have something to back up what you have said, I find your post rather useless.

The best answer to your question is you shouldn't just make blind shot-in-the-dark investments. Markets are pretty efficient--if you think Asia is going to prosper, that is probably already factored into prices if it's true.

Anyway, the best funds for your purpose are probably Vanguard Pacific and Vanguard Emerging Markets, but if you don't like risk, you wouldn't want all your holdings concentrated there. Asset Allocation

These are US based investments, through a US firm. I didnt mean that I want to bet on the Asian market, I meant that I want to work with an Asian brokerage or bank.

Just read some books about Asia, then read some books about people who don't like risk - i.e. Warren Buffett. Look at their portfolios and Asian positions - try to understand these positions, etc etc etc. The conclusion you will come to from this will be much stronger and more informed than you will get in a forum.

Yantree,

Its pretty hard to make intelligent, informed investments without being able to spend alot of time knwing the area. Have you ever lived in Asia? In the particular places you want to invest? If no, this might not be the best decision.
