Playing 1/3 NL at the Wynn against a “group of friends”

I love the Wynn!

Anyways, last weekend I was there playing the 1/3 NL game, and around 11 PM two friends sit down. They are mostly drunk, and playing very laggish/crazy PF, and pretty much getting it all in on the flop on most hands. Heads up against each other, it was check it down, or “all-in” 50/50. Most of the time, they were trading stacks with each other, as they were 3-betting with some pretty marginal SC’s.

Then, another of their friend’s sits down to my left. So, 1 seat, 3 seat, and 5 seat, are all “brothers” or “friends.” I’m stuck in seat 4. I don’t really suspect anything fishy going on, but there is rampant talk of “so…since you sucked out on me, you’re going to give me back my hundred later right?” Again, I don’t suspect actual collusion, but given that I’m stuck in between all 3 of them, and I’m worried that my money might be split among the three of them, I leave the game.

Standard? I know it is only the 1/3 game, but 1 against 3 hardly seems fair.

You could try to get a seat change so all 3 are on your right, wait for a big hand, and get all-in. To me it's a preference thing. If you don't feel comfy, leave the game. How were they playing with other people in the pot? With the no cap at the Wynn it sounds like this could have been a juicy situation if they weren't colluding, playing shady, etc.

I'd stick around because your going to make a ton. Play ABC solid, don't try to outplay them and practice pot size control and you should have no problems at all. You are playing for stacks, not pots.

If they make YOU feel uncomfortable, then you may be better off looking for a game you like (next door or two doors down).

I don't think this is a question that anyone can answer for you.

I've played lots of times where two or three players were obviously friends. Almost always, I've felt that they weren't colluding, and I stay.

Once or twice I've had a Husband/Wife sitting next to each other who I was pretty sure were sharing information. I didn't make a big deal of it, just asked for a table change.

Once, the people who I thought were sharing information were so drunk and bleeding chips to the table (and me) so fast, that frankly, I didn't care.

However, the long and short of it comes down to whether or not you were comfortable playing at the table. If you weren't, find another table.

When I played at the Sahara 5 of the guys were friends and the dealer knew all of them. I didn't feel like I was getting squeezed. They can try all they want. I also sat down at other casinos and this happened too, where 3 or 4 guys knew each other. Didn't bother me b/c they were cool and gave me lots of chips. You feel uncomfortable with that you'll be looking a very long time for a table. Only place I didn't see 3 or 4 people sitting at the same table in Vegas was Mandalay Bay and Rio.

If for whatever reason, you're not comfortable, leave. 1- it's not fun 2- you'll probably play worse.

That said, find a way to get more comfortable in +EV spots.

Every situation playing with groups who know each other is different. It's always a "play it by ear" thing.

When you see the same group of 4 guys buying in to the same SitNgo tourney over and over and over at WSOP where two of the four seem to almost always money, don't sit with 'em. When 4 frat brothers sit down and you're the lone other player and they're intent on kicking each other's asses, making stupid all-in plays repeatedly and almost forgetting you're there, stick around. Most cases are in between.
