Canadian Internet Poker Ban?
Sorry guys probably been gone over again and again but I wanted to see if you knew anything about Internet poker ban in Canada coming. Any articles around? I only see articles about advertising it not actually outright banning it. I have been playing on True Poker for years now and want to branch out to other sites (more regularly) but dont want to if my money is going to be stolen by Mr Government. I dont use netteller i get bank drafts....how can they stop that?

Re: Canadian Internet Poker Ban?
Nobody has really heard anything. Though Neteller has unexpectedly decided to pull out of the Canadian market, so take that for what it's worth.
Also, you'd be better off posting this in the legislation forum. |

[/ QUOTE ] They can stop many things and they will if it serves their interests. Governments love to make laws and control that which is not currently controlled. If there are political points to be won legislators will legislate. The poker community needs to ensure there are political points to be lost. |

Re: Canadian Internet Poker Ban?
In my opinion, I believe Canada is next.... Pretty soon half the world will be banned from internet gambling.

Re: Canadian Internet Poker Ban?
IF Canada is going to make legislation regarding online gambling, it will likely go the way of Britain to regulate it. That is the opinion held in this presentation written by some Canadian lawyers:
http://gaming.uleth.ca/agri_downloads/1449/lipton.pdf Luckily we have those bad ass Mohawks on Kahnawake who would raise Hell if the Canadian government would try to enforce anti-gambling legislation. How can I become a blood brother? |

I'm happy, I don't need to deal with your government. They totally have nothing to do or what? If you want, you can check this article, there is some information you are looking for.

No \"Prohibition\" in Canada, for booze or for poker.
"I have been playing on True Poker for years now and want to branch out to other sites (more regularly)..."
Thanks for the mention, before you do anything rash, email me about a 100% reload for Canadians, currently in effect. "dont want to if my money is going to be stolen by Mr Government." That will not happen, there is no "Canadian ban" pending for this Prohibition, as there was none for the last US Prohibition. "I dont use netteller i get bank drafts...." TruePoker pays its players' cashouts, even if we have to haul a bucket of loonies to your front door. Truepoker CEO |

Re: No \"Prohibition\" in Canada, for booze or for poker.
from the tiny bit of attention I paid in my canadian schooling, I seem to remember that the UK has to essentially approve every law Canada tries to pass. Although I have never heard of them not approving anything.
i thought the Governor general was a representative of the queen and had to sign everything. |
