Default How important is Rakeback?

Hi all,

Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on the following. Do you think Rakeback has become one of the most important factors for choosing which site you play on? Or are there more important factors?

I currently get around 35% over a few sites (I wont name them because my point is not to promote - just to see different peoples opinions on the subject!) Rakeback is important to me but i also enjoy the oppotunity to play for cool live tournaments and events etc - this is whats beginning to interest me more and more!

Anyways - would be cool to see what people think - is Rakeback still the most important factor???

Cheers!

I believe first and foremost game selection should be the most important factor when deciding what site(s) to play on, followed by rakeback, and customer service (ease of deposit and withdrawl etc etc). That being said, I think rakeback has become a very important supplement to any poker players bankroll... it's nice to have an extra 1k deposited into your site of choice at the end/middle of each month. Another thing to look out for is wether the site offers rakeback based on the contributed or dealt method... make sure you use dealt.. especially if you're a tight player..

he is right on, game selection is way more important, people flock to WPEX for 100% rakeback and get stacked cuz the players are much better.

Game selection first, then rakeback takes the back seat.

I play mostly 25NL (both full ring and 6max)

Rakeback can be important even at these low levels.

The amount of rakeback you receive can vary from site to site due to % refunded, how they calculate rake paid, if bonuses and other perks are deducted etc.

I looked at the rakeback I received in terms of BB/100 from 3 sites I play at.

site 1: 3.52/100

site 2: 1.09/100

site 3: 1.83/100

A good winning player might win at 8 bb/100 so rakeback can add to that by a fair amount.

Bonuses are more important. A run-of-the-mill $1 per table-hour bonus works out to 6.7 bb/100.

I would not play at a site just for the rakeback though. You have to like the site and feel you can beat the other players.

i don't think this is necessarily true. what limit is being played is what matters most.

yes he is right when i first started out i was purely a rakeback grinder, i would breakeven for the month then bank a rakeback check as profit. The higher the limit and better you are the less important it is though but it will still be a substantial bonus. Without access to PartyPoker id take rakeback site over one without.
