Skill difference 1/2nl to 2/4nl
I remember when I made the jump from .5/1nl to 1/2nl the difference in skill wasn't all that much. There was more standard multitabling players, but nobody that I felt that would be extremely tough to play against.
However, for me, the jump from 1/2nl to 2/4nl seems to have a huge difference in skill. For some reason, I feel that you have to outplay your opponents more and put in more moves to extract value, and play a lot more aggressive. May be I just have a small sample size and was on a couple tables with a lot of opponents who like to float and play very aggressively. But I was just wondering if there are posters who have succesfully made this jump, and what their experience are between the two limits. Also, what skill sets do you think is needed in 2/4 nl? I remember when I read The Well:True, he emphasized the river value push and the river value bluff. I know that these are two moves that in 1/2nl I hardly ever saw, and the river bluff shove, I still can't bring myself around to do. Just want to know people's experiences and things I can study to make my game better for 2/4nl. |

Re: Skill difference 1/2nl to 2/4nl
There was a thread on this last week in MSNL where a lot of people chimed in. I can't remember the name of it, but it was about someone wanting to move up. I posted in it so maybe you can try searching my posts or something (I would, but couldn't seem to find the option to do so myself).
Essentially the skill gap from 1/2 -> 2/4 is one of the greatest you are likely to experience because the player pool at 2/4 includes players who also regularly play/beat higher stakes (such as 3/6 and 5/10). Game selection is will be important when you first move up to make sure you get a feel for the stakes and make neccessary adjustments. Anyway theres more in that other thread, but I can't recall it entirely. |

Re: Skill difference 1/2nl to 2/4nl
in terms of 1/2NL HU, and 2/4NLHU, 2/4NLHU is much more aggro. in fact, i'd say that 2/4NLHU is more aggro than 3/6NLHU.
when you move up just play really tight/solid at first and slowly adapt (eg- figure things out). |

Re: Skill difference 1/2nl to 2/4nl
1/2 and 2/4 are so different its absurd. There are probably 4x as many fish at 1/2, most 2/4 tables are 5 regs and 1 fish while most 1/2 tables are more like 2-3 regs and the rest fish.
