2-5 NL: TT on rag board. Turn action.
Playing 2-5 NL in my local cardroom. About 45 minutes in I have played only two hands and have yet to raise. Image is tight.
Buyin is 600. Guy to my right - who looks like Kenny Rogers and has been playing pretty loose pf and has been caught bluffing at weakness a few times - has about 3K. Guy to my left has 1.5K and seems tight aggressive. 45 mins in I get TT in mid position. Kenny limped so I raise to 30. Guy to my left with 1.5K calls. Everyone else folds to Kenny, who calls the extra 25. Flop comes 455, two spades. Kenny checks, I bet 75, both call. Turn is a 9d. Kenny checks. I have 450 in front of me and there is 320 in the pot. Action? I'd like a few ideas on how to play in this spot. I'll relay what actually happened, and my thinking, later. Thanks! |

I'm taking another stab at this pot on the turn, probably 175+ to see where I'm at. You are ahead of the majority of their range here, but I would probably fold to a raise by Kenny.

Re: 2-5 NL: TT on rag board. Turn action.
In the actual hand I pushed. Following factors influenced my decision:
- Given my stack size, any bet 150 or under looks weak and both players were capable of putting me all in on a bluff or draw. - Same bet allows draws in. - I felt Kenny was drawing and I wanted him out. - I felt that TA behind me would have already rr with AA, KK, QQ, and likely JJ on that flop. - I felt that trip 5s would have led into me or rr me on that flop. - Any bet of 200 upwards pretty much commits me to the hand, especially given the thinking above. In the hand, TA had 99 so I walked into it. I think both players would have folded all draws or pairs to that bet, and I think most of the time that's what they have. Reasonable move? If I had a bigger stack, say 1500, I would have bet 200 and folded to a rr. |

Re: 2-5 NL: TT on rag board. Turn action.
I always push in these spots here too and i find that I get called by half the draws and by all the hands that are ahead. Does anyone have any suggestions for making a bet here when a PSB is more then 2/3 of your stack?

Re: 2-5 NL: TT on rag board. Turn action.
Marginal push, but I still think its +EV, and I would have done it in this spot because their range is majority drawish and crap so you win enough to compensate.
