6 card omahahaha

Anyone got any tips? As far as I can tell so far:

-redraws are key, nut straight on the flop is no good unless you have a redraw.
-naked aces are pretty powerful.

Is it possible that there is less variance in this game than 4 card?

Not having played it, here are my thoughts:

Redraws are necessary and you should probably have multiple redraws before playing a big pot.

Naked aces should go way down in value. It should also be pretty hard to have truly 'naked' aces since at least one or two of your sidecards will coordinate.

Logically there should be more variance, but if people are playing nitty it may seem lower.

Well.... pot size control becomes fairly important. There's nothing worse than looking at your hand and thinking 'wow I have an 8-card wrap, I have up to 28 outs to hit' when they're all in your opponents hands and give them the same straight anyway. Obv an extreme example, but card removal needs to be taken into account. Having back-up to your main hand is extreeeeeeeemely important. The runner runner draw WILL come in.

To give you an example of a recent hand in a game I play:

I have KQQ952, and have raised from the CO to isolate the UTG limper and the BB who are both awful. The SB is a strong player who is deep-stacked (I have about £1230, he covers, UTG and BB have about £1800 between them - lol, this is a £2 blinds game) and if he wants to play a hand I can't shake him off it. The flop comes 834r and UTG bets the pot, I call as does SB, turn is a J, UTG bets £20 and I take the opportunity to raise near the pot to get rid of SB, but SB wants to play and doesn't fold. Neither does UTG. River is a Q. SB quickly announces 'pot..... £400'. UTG folds. SB is either on a complete bluff or has the nuts, and I can't bring myself to fold.

Obv he had it..... and the point is, they often will.

How tight you play should depend on depth of stacks and who you're up against. If you can isolate the value you can play with weaker ranges, but if you're continually going to have strong players behind you you will need to tighten up significantly unless you feel you can exploit them even OOP. The games I play are usually very deep-stacked so you can afford to get fairly frisky with your preflop holdings and raise a wide range, as my post-flop edge is fairly significant.

Hands to get aggressive with preflop: double-suited (at-least!) rundowns, double-suited high two pair hands (low two pair hands are trash unless villains will stack off with two pair on the flop). AAxx doesn't have a huge amount of value simply because stacking off if you hit a naked overpair + NFD is suicidal.

On the flop and later on, exercise pot control if you've only got one or two nut draws. Leave the fish to pay pot-sized bets to draw to their naked nut flush draw. You want to be getting aggressive when you have, for example, 2 nut draws and two pair (or better), 1 nut draw and middle or top set, etc etc.

Mixing up your play is not very important unless you are getting deep-stacked with a good player.

Funny hand at the end of one of our sessions: it's HU, and villain calls 12-card omaha high-low, and has straddled his button. I raise him, he reraises back, I call. The flop comes down 256 rainbow. I pot, he pots back, I go over the top all-in, he looks at his hand and says 'I really like my hand but there's no way I can call'. He shows: A444789 xxxxx. I laugh out loud, and show him my A3333789 xxxx

There's a dealer's choice game on monday nights at the casino i go to (GCasino - awful awful place) and a private game as well. The only place i know in london where you can play dealers is the western, on the A40, and that only runs on specific nights. If you're interested, give them a bell.

Is it just me or does that KQQ952 hand suck? I don't understand why you would want to "isolate" with that? Even conceding you want to play as many hands in position vs. bad players as you can possibly justify.

My feeling on 6 card omaha is play very tight. Obviously getting all 6 cards to "work together" becomes very hard, but play tight.
