JJ top set, most profitable line?
Non-PT site so no proper HH.
This villain is one of the few decent tags I have played with a lot on this site, but over 1000s of hands we have basically stayed out of each others way and I can barely remember any hands that have gone past the turn. I dont rate his play that highly but he is pretty solid abc and presumably a winning player. My image is quite aggressive, I abuse the CO and button and isolate a lot of the donk limpers, but I assume that he respects my play. Its probably a pretty boring hand but I hate not making enough money with these hands... 200nl 6max, $300 effective stacks. Preflop I raise 2 limpers to $11 on the button with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], only villain calls in the BB. Flop: ($27) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain checks, I bet $21, he minraises to $42... Options here are 1) calling... which sucks on this board because he obviously could have a draw and even if he doesnt there are so many action killing cards. 2) raising to $120ish to set it up to get it all in on the turn easily 3) Shoving... seems a bit much given stack sizes but it could represent a big draw from me and get a call from a weaker hand. I actually 4bet the flop to $115 but Im interested in thoughts or suggestions for a different line here. |

Re: JJ top set, most profitable line?
calling is really bad obv. If stacks were 100bb push. Since stacks are big make it 140 setting up turn push as you stated.

Re: JJ top set, most profitable line?
I think hes either flopped a big enough hand or draw for you to make a Huge raise here on the flop, especially if you said he knows youre real aggro, he could have hit a bottom set or 2 pair easily and is trying to milk you knowing youll bet no matter what when checked to. the only problem is whether or not you think he would call your raise pre with 910....other than that he has a Monster draw or I think he hits bottom set so youre free to get a lot of money in on a 3-bet on the flop. sorry if this doesnt make much sense haha im so tired i tried my best to make it readable

Re: JJ top set, most profitable line?
pop that ish up. pray he doesnt have 910 and get it in now. the board is way to wet to slowdown here. i want my stack in the middle on the flop and no later.
120 and call a shove |

Re: JJ top set, most profitable line?
Cant call, gotta make it 120ish like you did. Why mess around if he has a set you bust him, you cannot let him draw. If he flopped the straight then you lose nothing you can do about that. I call if he shoves on the flop everytime.

Re: JJ top set, most profitable line?
Obviously Im not that worried about T9 and am gladly calling a shove. I see its pretty much unamimous with reraising over just pushing, thats what I figured. He tanked and then folded with about 2 seconds left on his timer
