need a good tourny structure
Anyone have a solid tourny structure they have used with good results for a $!00+ live MTT with about 30-40 entrants? I need a sructure that keeps things moving along quickly but doesnt turn into a total crapshoot before the FT even starts. Starting chips will be 5000. I have the blind amounts figured out but having trouble finding a good amount of time for each level and at what point we should start the antes. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: need a good tourny structure
30 minute levels and start the antes in round 7.
How about you tell us the blind structure. Rebuys? Add ons? We really need a little more info to help you out. But if you already have the blinds then how long they last is really just determining when your tournament will end. If you set them well then things should move along just fine. Personally I'm not big fan of antes, but we really need more info to help you in this area. Adding the antes we also bring the tourney to an end sooner. |

Personally I'm not big fan of antes [/ QUOTE ]Whereas I LOVE antes, and big ones. I try to get them in as soon as possible. (Rewards aggressive play- heh). |

[/ QUOTE ] It's not the ante itself I am not a fan of. Really have no problem having an ante. But as the TD it's the little hassles they create. And having said that if I go with a new Rebuy + Addon structure I've been toying with I'll have antes. But if your just starting out as it appears the OP might, then itcould be better to just stick with a simpler, blind only structure. |

[/ QUOTE ] IMHO - I don't use antes in smaller tournaments, larger than 20 or more people, I would probably use them. If no antes are used, decrease the time span of the blinds when you're down two three people. P |

Re: need a good tourny structure
Homeporkertourney.com is a great site - well worth a read. The way we run our tournaments/league games can be round at http://www.diypokertour.com/pokertou...&tabid=120 This details out starting with $10000 or $1000 in chips, so if you are going with $5000 you could go somewhere in the middle. We typically have 25 - 30 people at a game and they are typically finished in 3-4 hours, if you want a longer tournament make the rounds longer 20-30 mins instead of 15.
Hope this helps |
