Default Estimating taxes from regulated online gambling using Svenska Spel

Svenska Spel is the Swedish state-owned gambling company. Their online poker room is the 7th largest in the world, according to PokerSiteScout. They made $685 million last year, and had a 55% market share in 2005. Imagine how much more than that regulated online gambling in the US could make. Using the Svenska Spel experience to estimate tax revenue from regulated online gambling in the US would make a great case study. It could convince politicians, the press, etc. that it can be done well and generate a lot of revenue (which I'm sure the politicians would like to spend). I'm not the one to do it, but someone should write up a paper on this, get it published in some journal, and issue some press releases. I'm sure the PPA could get a lot of mileage out of handing out the study to politicians too.

As a Libertarian I'd prefer the government just keep out of it, but realistically I prefer regulation to banning.
