Default Making the wrong move at the right time

20-40 NL at Commerce. I'm in bb with A2 off. Several callers, no preflop raise, which is unusual in this game, I check. Flop A-2-x rainbow. I usually bet out here but check, planning on raising if anyone at this aggressive table bets, everyone folds to button or cutoff, pro named Greg, good player, but talks too much. He bets around 200+, splashes as usual, I raise 700 more. He calls. Everyone else has gone away. Turn blank, I check, trying to confuse, he checks. River blank, I check again, he bets around 700, I call, we I show top-bottom pair, he shows 2-2 for set. Then he lectures me that I played the hand all wrong and if I played it right and bet out on the flop he would have busted me. Probably true. But is that playing the hand all wrong, not getting broke? I'm just trying to mix it up on a table full of good players (this was just before the WTP and Commerce was humming.) This is usually the biggest NL game going but now it's one of the smaller games with $5000 50/100 and a $10,000 100/200 and, at the time, a 200/400.
