Title says it all, the only thing I am wondering is what kinda places hire bar-backs. I have been a busser before, but it was at red lobster with no bar-backing. I know a steakhouse thru a friend that has bar-backs but its much to far a drive, what kinda places should I look for to find a job?

at least you have set your sights high.
look for places that you'd want to be bartender at that aren't much too far a drive. any place that gets really busy on weekends generally needs barbacks |

go to a bar on the weekends. is there a big line or is it crowded? then odds are they have a bar back.
so i guess its not as simple as saying "bars hire bar-backs", its as simple as saying "busy bars hire bar-backs. |

I used to know a dude who worked at Home Depot during the week and bar-backed on the weekends. He went in to a bar near his place and said he wanted to bartend, but they thought he lacked experience. He was also 6'6" and was big enough to lug kegs and be a menace if some dude got mean. It was a sort of irish pub type place, and most busy bars and pubs have them.
Just go and ask around in a college type area or some place busy on weekends. |

I've heard other people say that bar-backing is a good way to become a bartender. Don't bar-backs just go and get cases and kegs out of the cooler?

this is also what I have heard, they basically have to keep the bartender stocked. Im not looking to become a bartender, im just looking for a job to set up for summer.
