Default Heads Up QTo in the SB

Another respected poster and I were discussing this hand and decided to get MHSH's POV

Villian is a decent, aggressive 2+2er, possibly a bit new to the nuances of Heads Up play. Capable of making prudent calls and fold on the Flop. Fair, but not stellar board reader.

Hero is SB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero raises, BB Calls.

Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

BB checks, Hero checks...

Turn is a value bet. River is usually a value bet.

Does he really c/r here with much that we want him to? I mean, we're not all that sad if he c/r's, but I wouldn't be overly happy, either.

We do indeed, but does that automatically mean we should bet here?

Granted, almost always, but I don't think so this time.

I'll add my $.02 after some other replies.

Everyone is under the impression that hero's play on the Turn was a defensive check. It's not.

It's pretty clear that hero has the best hand on the Turn a HUGE % of the time. But against what?

The turn card for most of our opponent's peeling range is very scary. There isn't a whole lot we are ahead of that doesn't fold to our Turn bet here.

The pot is relatively small, and there are very few draws out there that I mind giving a free card to.(any K really)

Those few times that we are behind here we are taking a free card with a very strong draw.

So I was trying to discern whether or not those times we induce a bluff/ draw out has more value than when we miss a bet(or 2 possibly) against a weak spade drawing dead or near dead.

Nfinity,

Did you read my posts? That's what i said.

The problem with this board in particular is that you are scared he is going to fold like 89 or something? He is almost always calling with any spade and unless you know he will bluff the river UI you should always bet here. He calls with a much bigger range than he bluffs the river with.

I like this play a lot, which is why i was hesitant to post at first but this is a bad board for it.
