Default Hands from 10$ NL FTP feel free to critique

All of the following hands are from my first time playing at FTP so no reads. Just a basic you did this good, you did this bad is fine. I would classify myself as aggro preflop and tighter post with continuations often. Have fun making me look like an idiot!

Default Re: Hands from 10$ NL FTP feel free to critique

hand 1) raise pf, dont open limp 6max. raise the flop - get value out of a K. turns fine

hand 2) looks good

hand 3) I fold A9 UTG+1. sometimes i cbet this board, sometimes i dont.. i'd say i do more often than not htough.
dont minraise!! make a proper raise, for valuemore than anythign else.
again dont make a crappy minriase on the river, raise to $2. after his reraise i guess theres not a lot you beat so i dont mind a fold... would prolly call at the table tho

hand 4) bet the flop, there are a lot of cards you dont wanna see, protect your hand.

hand 5) you've played this far too pasisvely, rr pf, then bet the flop, call a raie, if he just calls, push the turn.

hand 6) raise pf, raise more on the flop, could bet the turn harder, rest is fine

hand 7) looks good!

Hand 1: I would typically raise with the pocket pair there. I like your post flop slow play because the board is dry and we want BB to hang around.

Hand 2: I would lead into that flop. It's drawy, and even though you have the nuts now, your hand is still pretty vulnerable. It looks like the end result would have been the same anyway, though.

Hand 3: Fold preflop. As played, bet the flop, and if called, I'd be done with the hand without vast improvement on the turn.

Hand 4: Bet the flop. One, you would like to know where you stand, and two, there are a bunch of cards on the turn that you don't want to see (basically anything higher than a 9). If MP has two overcards and missed the flop, why give him a chance to hit?

Hand 5: 3-bet preflop, bet the flop.

Hand 6: Depending on my perception of MP, I might raise or just call preflop. As played, I would play it the same.

Hand 7: Fold preflop. As played, I would check behind on the turn. We don't have much of a hand, and I would hate to get check raised off my nut flush draw.

Edit: had my hand #'s labelled wrong.

Hand 1: Use the 3-4BB + 1BB for every limper rule for open raising like everyone said. There are threads you can search for to find out the benefits of doing so. I'm RR the flop because I don't want to go to the turn with two opponents. On the turn against two opponents I'm just hoping to call this down. One of these guys has more than just another K.

Hand 2: looks good.

Hand 3: I don't play this in MP either. Its really difficult to do. I'm betting this flop sometimes too cuz the chance that your opponent doesn't have a J or Q is just as good as the chance he does. I'd rather know now than later when the pot has grown. I'm also RR to a pot-sized amount on the turn. If you had, the river wouldn't have turned out this way so I won't comment on that.

Hand 4: Gutsy call PF but fine every once in awhile. Just keep in mind that he's not open raising to .90 with nothing. Unless he's on some kind of tilt or something this screams high PP. Anyways, you have to at least lead this flop as mentioned above.

Hand 5: See Danny8's comments above.

Hand 6: Fine with me. I might even shove that river.

Hand 7: I don't play AXs UTG either. You won't hit the FD that often and your A is useless acting first. And when you do hit a FD you usually have to pay a ton to try and make the flush. I'm probably checking the turn and making that $2 bet on the river (assuming the flush doesn't hit). Since it did hit though I'd play the river the same.

Something I dont understand guys is that you are saying to raise 3-4BB + 1BB for every limp with 22-99 but wont this create low fold equity and could run me into trouble in the long term? Would this be different at a full 9 ring? Also, you are saying fold Ax and Axss UTG-MP1 but arent there about same odds to flop a flush draw as their is to flop a set? Im nub and just trying to increase my playing potential. Also can someone help me out with getting rakeback, is it legal and where is the best place to get it for FTP? Thnx ahead of time.

OP, this is a lot of hands for one post. My advice is to post one hand where you questioned your play, versus a plethora of hands. You're more likely to get responses. Also, don't post results, it will definitely skew the responses, since we can see Villian's cards.

I tried to give this thread a look, but there were too many hands and I can't objectively comment when I can scroll down and see Villian's cards.

ill tackle hand 3, the trip nines.

whats with the minraising? I realize that many players do not want to tip their hands to their opponents, revealing their value but minraising is going to get called and more often than you like, your gunna get sucked out on. Any T or a Q coming down on the turn or river is going to make you puke and fold. Show some strength and pop that turn up more than 20c. same thing with the river. He is only 3betting you here because your minraise is showing some weakness.

If he does have you beat with a straight or a boat, hes going to let you know if you more than minraise im. he will feed off your strength and pop u up again if hes got it.

cheers

[/ QUOTE ]
I struggled with this for awhile too. The reason is that you open raise with PPs is:
#1 You force junk to fold and thin the herd so to speak.
#2. You have disguised your hand as one of 3 things, a top face pair (JJ, QQ, KK, etc), a top face hand (KQ, AQ, KQ, etc), or a low pair. So if you hit the flop you are going to get paid off big by AQ, AK, etc if their A, K, Q hits the flop with your set.
#3. If you miss a set on the flop, you have set yourself up to continuation bet. This is when you bet (aka bluff) the flop and represent a high pair that just hit (ie flop is Axx) or a set if the flop is all low. Chances are if you c-bet against ONLY one other player you will get a fold. Sometimes a c-bet works against 2 players and even 3 sometimes.

If someone limps in front of you then you want to just limp in behind them with PPs usually. This is because of the reasons you just mentioned and the fact that you don't have the fold equity you would have created by open raising.

At full-ring you wouldn't even want to play PP early.

[ QUOTE ]
Also, you are saying fold Ax and Axss UTG-MP1 but arent there about same odds to flop a flush draw as their is to flop a set?

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, the odds are similar (aka slim). But the difference is that AXo/s is a trap hand if played early b/c someone behind you likely has an A with a better kicker. Also, if you do get a draw, someone behind you is more likely to make you pay more to see the next street. Basically by playing these hands late you are decreasing the odds someone behind you has a better kicker and the odds that someone behind you will make you pay to see the next street.

so my range at a 6 way table should be A10+ 22+ = open raise, and then 22-99 = limp behind limpers what should my range be with Ax limping after some1 else limps. IE, should i limp behind a limper with AJ/o, and what should be my range raising behind 1 limper/2limpers?
