Default Re: High 2 pair concerns

In hand 1, his aggression on 5th street is a little scary. His play after your CR indicates he can beat trip sixes, either JJ or TT in the hole. But given that this is HU and you were the BI, maybe he is going a little more aggressive with just jacks up. TT with a spade draw is a slimmer possibility. The pot's pretty big to fold aces up. I certainly wouldn't barring some awesome read.

In hand 2, he's either got 88 or 77 in the hole, or a pair of 7's with a flush draw. I cant conceive of any other hand. It would have been an awful way to play a big pair when he could have knocked out two players with a raise on 3rd. The fact that the 3's are dead almost sucks you into the pot if he has trips. Again, I'm not sure how you can fold this river. At 1/2, there are tons of players who would bet 7's up on the river against an open pair.

There's really not much you can do with two big pairs in a HU pot provided your opponent's board isnt terrifying. And neither are.

First hand: I would probably raise third. When you check-raise on fifth, that should look pretty scary to your opponent. When he three-bets, he's saying one of three things:

1) He has a set.
2) He's an idiot.
3) He thinks you're an idiot.

I think call-down mode is best.

Similarly, on the second hand, the other guy is saying he has Queens-up beaten. At least, that's what he should be saying. Do you believe him?

Hand 1 I think is fine, I play the same way. It's already heads up so I slowplay is fine here. When he 3-bets fifth, it's auto call down mode for me.

Hand 2 I play the same way until sixth where I will typically fold since he's saying he can crush your queens up by raising fifth when your board pairs. He might be slowplaying a bigger pair or have trips. Eitherway, when his board pairs I dump...I don't like it, but I will. A read would be good here though, if he's a donk then I will call down like you did.
