Rebuy tourney when you can\'t afford a rebuy?
I've got a freeroll into a charity tournament where the winner gets a seat at the WSOP ME. Buy in is $1000 but my company bought a table and I got a free seat. Problem is that its a rebuy tournament where the rebuy costs $1000, and I don't have that kind of roll (and its very -ev, but the charity is for the children so its cool).
Last year, probably 1/2 the people who busted out in the first hour rebought, the rest just moved over to the bar and drank their $1,000 worth. Any strategy suggestions for this format? Be more aggressive to take advantage of those afraid of busting early? Be less aggressive since I can't afford to rebuy? Drink early and hope for favorable variance? There are about 200 players, 2nd and 3rd prize are plasma TVs. Tournament will last about 6 hours total. |

Play it like a freezeout but widen your calling ranges.

Is selling your seat an option?

Can't sell the seat. My boss will be there. Certainly possible to sell the WSOP ME seat if I win. Last year the final two players cut a deal because one of them didn't want to play in the WSOP.

Okay, this is not going to be a 3buck fish rebuy on stars full of fish.
I would assume that people have respect for 1k, and most, if not all, will not have the 6 or 7 k for the correct bankroll for this tourney. Thus, i see it as a slightly looser tourney, but not with the psycho action of races all the time. Just play it normally, win, and youll be fine |
