inviting dead money

was just wondering whether when you guys play home games you invite 'dead money' so to speak to the game even if they aren't very plesant to hang out with.

Or would you rather just play a chilled game with your closer mates?

I know plenty of agreeable people who are more than happy to give me their money. I don't play in games with annoying people, no matter how bad they are. I like to have a good time, but maybe I'm weird that way.

Im the same way. I may even be dead money a little bit. When I play with my friends its a social event. No point in ruining everyones good time just to make a few bucks. But your motivation for playing may be different. If you are in fact playing to make money than Id say get the worst players you can find no matter how annoying they may be.

You do this on a regular basis, your game isn't destined to last for long most likely... unless you have a lot of dead money players AND the regulars are just like you and willing to put up with the recycling a-holes.

If someone was picking fights or just ranting the whole time so that nobody else could talk, then yeah, I would probably opt him out, but just run-of-the-mill annoying?

Even if you someone is *frequently* annoying, once you start down the road of banning such people, where do you draw the line? Everyone can be annoying at times. (Maybe I'm just afraid that *I* would be the next to be banned...)

You draw the line where you're comfortable and assess on a case by case basis. Nothing in this world is black & white. It's not really a matter of banning, it's a matter of not inviting the person back.

If you fear you're one of the annoying people, pay attention to how people are reacting to you. If you have aspergers (assburgers!), be extra special mindful. If you're a consistent winner and are still getting invited back, you're probably not one of the annoying people.

In my small home cash game, 6-9 guys, Never. You need to define "aren't very pleasant". If he's tolerable in a larger crowd then maybe for my 30 man tournaments. Even then it's still just a maybe.

I would highly recommend not basing who you invite to your home poker game on their playing ability at all.
