Default What to do in this situation?

One Question...

Stakes are 1/2 and you and other guy are deepstacked..

You are sitting with 800, he has 1000

You are dealt JQ[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the BB, folds to the button who raises it to 8, you call.

Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (pot: $17)

You bet 12, he calls

Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (pot: 41)

You bet 35, he pushes all in for 1000.

What do you do? And whats your reasoning behind it.

you should quit poker.

This might actually not be bad advice. OP may simply not have the temperament for it. It's possible he is just nervous however, since they are pretty deep. I remember being scared shitless the first time I played behind 1200 at a 1/2 game.

And the best part of it for you was, 1200 went a lot further in 1943.

IMO it is definitly not always -EV. I understand that he might have the redraw. But he may also have other hands including just a draw, a pissed off set or 2 pair. I think the times he has these hands balance the times he has the redraw.

Like I said, it's not a tournament. You have the best hand possible right now with only one card coming.

Just my opinion.

Three things can be the case

a) he has a straight, no redraws
EV of calling is +55.

b) he has redraws
He has a hand like JhTh, he is freerolling against you. i.e. you only have 40% equity. In this case your EV of calling is ~ -110.

c) he has no straight (set or 2pair)
EV of calling is ~ +1300.

We can safely assume c) is never the case.
Leaving a) and b)

He has to have the lone straight 2/3 of the time to make your call +EV.

Thus i fold cause i assume my opponent is sane enough not to push in this situation w/o redraws.
