Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
i would like to inquire into the minds of those who know more than me....
event 15, 1500 nlhe, is played at noon on sat. the 9th. event 16, 2500 horse, is played at 5 pm on the same day. in your opinion, how will this affect the field of the nlhe event. i would think more pros might be inclined to skip the nlhe for the horse event. possibly, some may play the nlhe and only play horse if they bust w/in a couple of hours. maybe some will think the field will be softer due to pros skipping out on nlhe for horse. thoughts and info is appreciated. |

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
Some pros only play NLH, so they will be in the noon event. Other pros who play all the games, or who are very concerned about maximizing their chances of winning a bracelet, will play in the HORSE (expecting to see a MUCH smaller field in that event).
Having said that, I'll likely play in the noon event, knowing that by 5pm I'll likely be out of the noon event, or I'll have a stack worth quite a bit more than $1500. Also, you can probably buy into the 5pm HORSE event as late as 6pm, maybe 7pm (not sure what they're going to do with late entries this year), so there is a good chance you'll end up playing both events if you're willing. Most important thing will probably be to chat with your table, and figure out who's going to play at 5pm in the HORSE if they bust out. Then, you'll know that they are probably more than willing to gamble on a 50:50 than somebody who has no intention of playing HORSE, especially as it approaches 5pm. Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) |

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
The 1500 NLHE event will be very large and attract a lot of fish.
The 2500 HORSE event will probably have a higher percentage of pros and a higher percentage of older players. It should be a little tougher, but there will be a lot of people who will not play all five games well. |

The other big factor is whether or not ESPN will be covering the final table of that event (#15).

Rage, enter both and go play the $1500 when the stud and razz hands come up.

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
I for one strive to be a well rounded player as many pro pre 2003 players.
What better opportunity then to play a variety of games against some very decent opposition where talent will play a major factor. I want something that pushes my talent in various areas of concepts etc. Poker is NOT N/L Holdem but a variety of game disciplines. |

[/ QUOTE ] i'm a poor engineer, so i'll only be playing the 1500. i was just curious how having both events on the same day would affect things. also, i know poker is not nlhe, but that is my best poker game by far, and i'm willing to accept that. i work on other games, but the wsop won't be the time for me to do that. |

top pros will def play the horse event so this is a good tourney to enter [/ QUOTE ] but, as fossilman pointed out, many will probably play this first, try to get some chips, and then play horse if things don't work out. i'm playing in the nlhe event and am very interested to see how this affects early play. i'm guessing it will be much looser than a typical tourney, but not quite to the extent of a rebuy. then again, what do i know? |
