Mirage 1/2 - All hell breaks loose on the turn
1/2 at the Mirage last week.
KQo in BB with $240. Villian is young and aggressive. Currently has $800 but says he's bought in for over $700, but I've only been here a few orbits. MP1 calls, Villian calls in MP3, I was changing seats and checked before I saw my cards. Flop: KQT rainbow Pot: $7 I bet $7, MP1 folds, Villian calls Turn: offsuit 2 Pot: $20 I bet $12, he raises to $24, I raise to $55, he says "let's stop playing around, I'm all in." I think he's overplaying two pair here pretty often, or maybe something like KJ. I doubt he flopped the straight and he couldn't have flopped a set, nor would I think he'd call a pot sized bet on the flop with 22. Do you call? |

If you don't intend to call, your 3-bet is pretty horrible. I just call his minraise and bet/fold or c/c river.

just look into his soul. this is live play right?
call the turn raise and reevaluate river. |

Re: Mirage 1/2 - All hell breaks loose on the turn
I highly doubt LAGgy villian calls TT in CO.
At time I thought reraise would help define my hand and keep me from having a tough river decision (and make him pay to draw if he's drawing). Guess it wasn't a good idea, but AS PLAYED, do you call river? |

Re: Mirage 1/2 - All hell breaks loose on the turn
if your going to fold to an all in, then don't raise turn. also, if you plan on raising turn, raise more, to like 80.
Really, only str8 he could have imo is the J9. So as played, I call all in. |

Re: Mirage 1/2 - All hell breaks loose on the turn
hmm
KK QQ TT 22 AJ J9 - range of hands your behind, i think a set is pretty unliekly here, with deep stacks, and from MP pretty rare for a player to limp KK QQ TT, 22 would be pretty sick, and i mean- if he called the flop bet to hit his set, hes gotta know that you could have a straight or at least a good draw plus pair with that dangerous board. (AA JJ unlikely) AK KJ KT QT K2 - the range you're ahead of, i particularly think KT KJ QT are likely. if anything, i think his speech indicates weakness, so i am putting him on worse 2 pair or KJ/QJ and CALL |

I called, he showed 22 for the sick 2 outer, but then I 4-outed him on the river to bring it down anyway. Would appreciate more thoughts, though. |

Re: Mirage 1/2 - All hell breaks loose on the turn
do people at the mirage actually check what's in the pot? I was surprised by the small bets you are making in the original post. Was this in tune with the normal table dynamics at this point?
I'd bet 10-15 on flop 'cause anyone with a lone K or even just a J is calling. As played it's really hard to see where you're at because your bets are so small (for live play anyway). The only thoughts I have is you should bet more on flop and turn and it will help define villain's hand better when he raises. |

Re: Mirage 1/2 - All hell breaks loose on the turn
Eh, I agree even a pot-sized bet looks small here when 120BBs deep and the pot is 3.5BB. $10-15 flop bets were getting called in 4 and 5 way limped flops, but not smaller ones, IIRC. I just don't want to buy a small pot with top two against a donk who may give me some value later with a lower two, Kx, etc.
I see your point though. |
