AK preflop/flop play

opening villan is sodapop, laggy reg who i have little history with. the limper is really passive. me and the limper played a pot a little while back-

(history between me + limper): i open QTs, he calls. flop comes Q82 w. 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. i bet/he calls. turn comes Kx, i c/c his small bet. river comes 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] , i check, he checks behind with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. (checked river w. flush...) so i think he's pretty passive/loose.

anyways, opening villan raised it very large. how do you handle this? hero is taggy.

Duh, AK, obvious reraise. Have you not seen a preflop chart?

Seriously, calling to keep the donk in is probably better than reraising here.

In wouldnt be too surprised if button had a real big hand, due to the calling station being in the pot. It actually seems like the most likely scenario.

I think I smoothcall here and lead out if I flop something, hoping to play the pot vs. the calling station.

if you guys are 3betting, your making it something like 50 i assume?

are you c-betting if called? (on a blank flop). stacks/pot sizes will be very awkward. eh?

I agree with this when villain would make a normal sized raise.

But don't you think we can narrow villains range more down when he raises this big and a station in the hand? Also, chances are big that we will knock the station out of the hand by rring.

I think it's super easy. Flop an A or K (or better), bet. If not, check fold.

Also, LAGTAG villain will be more likely to pay you off with AQ/KQ-stuff because he doesn't expect a TAG to turn up with AK in that spot like ever.

BTW, this is one of the few situations where your RIO with AK doesn't suck donkey balls.

Ok - maybe it isnt hard to play - but you are rarely getting paid of that much.

Also I think you are more likely to get stacked with this OOP then stack someone - depends on how good you are postflop I guess.

I still reraise and lead flop ~2/3 pot. Reraise a little more than pot tho to cut down on implied odds. Shut down unless improved if he flatcalls ur flop bet if u miss.

I think you can assume that the limper will stay out whether you call or re-raise. $12 more is a pretty big premium, and he wanted to get in cheap.

I'd normally reraise to $36. If he pushes, I'd consider folding (Have I RR'd him before? Does he have reason to believe that I'm light?) but I'd probably call and hope for the split.

If he calls the reraise I lead out big at any J-hi uncoordinated flop (representing AA/KK), q-fold to a Q-hi flop, and continue my aggression if I pair the A or K. This line works well vs a good player who can lay down a JJ/QQ overpair.
